Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes and speeds healing. Reiki is administered by gently touching or suspending the hands over the body. Reiki is non-invasive and the client is fully clothed during a session. Techniques like this have been practiced for thousands of years.

The word Rei means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness. This is the wisdom that comes from God or the Higher Self and is the God-Consciousness which is all-Knowing. It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows how to heal them. The word Ki, known as Chi in Chinese, is life energy. This is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. As long as something is alive, it has life energy circulating through it and surrounding it. If your life energy is low or its flow is restricted, you are more vulnerable to illness and negative thinking or feeling. When it is high and flowing freely, you feel more positive and relaxed and are less likely to become sick. Ki is also the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life. Reiki is this energy channeled. The practitioner is not using her own energy and is therefore not depleted after a session.
