Yoga is one of the most relaxing fitness skills available.
“Relaxing” and “fitness” may seem to be opposites yet they are combined in yoga.
Many people think that yoga is just stretching, it is a great deal more. Yoga is really about creating balance in the body by developing strength and flexibility. Yoga makes you feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises, and meditation makes you healthier by:
- Increasing flexibility – yoga positions act upon the various joints of the body including those joints that are never really on the ‘radar screen’ let alone exercised.
- Increasing lubrication of the joints, ligaments and tendons. Surprisingly it has been found that the body which may have been quite rigid starts experiencing a remarkable flexibility–even in those parts which you have not been consciously working upon. For example: You have been working on stretching and flexing your hips and legs and discover that your back has become stronger and more flexible.
